Wick halted the Gatwick Express aiming to make the Southern Combination Premier Division play-off’s on Tuesday evening and at the same time moving themselves towards mid-table safety.

The Dragons Crabtree Park ground is beginning to turn into a late season fortress as the home side raced into an early two goal lead.

Shane Brazil was the player on the end of both strikes, his first after just five minutes was a smart, calm finish to give Wick the lead.

Just over ten minutes later the striker had his and the Dragons second of the game, the ball landing at his feet at the far post and he slammed it into the net.

Back came the visitors though and despite some great movement to get up the pitch to the hosts penalty area the final ball into the box was lacking.

Just as Wick thought they going into the half time break with a clean sheet, CDG pulled a goal back. Callum Kilkenny was presented with an opportunity to slot home and sweetly fired past Keelan Belcher.

The visitors were level seven minutes into the second half, Kilkenny again with another great strike restoring parity at a point where CDG had come out the stronger of the two sides.

But 18 minutes from time the home side had the lead again, substitute George Bingham with a superb header from an in-swinging corner giving Alex Bellingham no chance.

The pressure then swung back onto the Dragons for most of the remaining time but the visitors couldn’t find another equaliser leaving the Dragons to complete their fourth win in a row and a small dent in the play-off hopes for Crawley Down Gatwick.

The Dragons head to Peacehaven & Telscombe next Saturday whilst Crawley Down Gatwick welcome Lingfield to The Haven.
