East Preston picked up three more points at the expense of Copthorne on Saturday as two second half goals extended their unbeaten run to three games.
Both sides were evenly matched over the opening 20 minutes with neither keeper having much work to do, just one chance apiece amidst some robust tackling.
Chances did begin to materialise as the first half wore on, Joshua Bryant with a great chance to give the home side the lead on 38 minutes but a great save from EP keeper Jet Harris kept the scores level.
Two minutes later an effort from the visitors Luwayne Greenwood was deflected wide to leave the half time score level, a heavy midfield battle leaving few goal scoring opportunities.
The second half was a much brighter affair, Junior Kaffo striking the bar ten minutes in. Just after the hour mark EP took the lead, Zion McLeod with a neat finish past the on-rushing keeper.
Less than 10 minutes later McLeod scored his and East Preston’s second heading home from a corner and secured a second win on the bounce for the visitors.
Copthorne are in action this Tuesday evening as they head to Oakwood in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup 1st Round (ko 7.45pm) whilst East Preston host Alfold at The Lashmar this coming Saturday (ko 3pm).
