Southern Combination Premier Division side Bexhill Utd announced on Thursday afternoon that their home game on Non League Day, Saturday 28th March versus Wick, will be used as a platform to raise money and profile for the Sussex Hearty Charity and their campaign to install life saving defibrillators in key locations across the county.
Non League Day is well established in the football calendar and the day when grassroots football comes together to promote it’s role in the local community.
With many fans disillusioned with the game at the top level, many are turning to their local non-league side and what they have to offer instead. At the Polegrove, crowds regularly top 200 on average, a fantastic support for Step 5 level.
Geoff Martin, Comms Manager at Bexhill Utd said:
‘We wanted to do something a bit different with Non League Day this year and put something back into the community that has been so supportive of our football club, the Sussex Heart Charity ticked all the boxes.’
‘We have made our game on Non League Day against Wick ‘Pay What You Like’ and we will donate 25% of the gate on the day to the Heart Charity as well as arranging a bucket collection on the day.’
‘There are no Premier League or Championship on that day so what better time to pop along and see what your local club has to offer.’
‘This is also a great opportunity for the Bexhill community to come together at the Polegrove and do something positive on an important day for non-league football.’
