Peacehaven 4–0 Whitstable — The Tye’s Perfect Return

A 40-second red card, a Tighe double and a proper Cal Eds goal — opening day at the Sports Park, from the terraces.
Peacehaven made a strong start to life back in the Isthmian South East after ten years away, beating Whitstable Town 4–0 on the opening day.
The game changed almost immediately. Inside 40 seconds Connor Tighe was played in on goal and brought down, leaving Whitstable a man short for the rest of the afternoon. From there Peacehaven were firmly in control.
They dominated possession in the first half and scored three times. Tighe got the first with a lovely finish into the bottom corner after being played through. The second came when Cal Eds beat his man and won a clear penalty, which Tighe tucked away into the bottom right. The third was messier: a corner led to a scramble in the box and Harrison Parker was on hand to slot it past the keeper.
It could easily have been more by half time, but Peacehaven were comfortable. Whitstable’s only real threat came from set pieces. For the home side, Charlie Curran and Cam Wiltshire ran the midfield for the first half, putting in two excellent shifts.
Whitstable came out differently after the break and were the better team for large parts of the second half, which is no small feat with ten men. They had a few half chances but never really looked like scoring. The game became scrappy, with plenty of fouls from both sides.
The points were sealed when Eds kept hold of the ball, beat two players, cut inside and bent one into the corner from outside the box — a proper Cal Eds goal to make it 4–0.
Tighe was man of the match for his two goals on Peacehaven’s return to this level. A solid opening day win for the home side, while Whitstable can take some credit for how they responded after going down to ten so early.
