Worthing United booked their place in the next round of the FA Vase with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Ringmer AFC at Lyons Way.
The Mavericks made a dream start, taking the lead after just two minutes. Dean Sherwood stepped up from 25 yards and produced a superb free kick to give the Ringmer goalkeeper no chance.
United doubled their advantage only four minutes later. Ahmed Kamil caused havoc down the flank before delivering for Danny Kingston, who powered home a six-yard header to make it 2–0 inside six minutes.
The hosts continued to dominate, with the relentless Kamil at the heart of everything. A flowing move involving the striker opened Ringmer up again in the 26th minute, allowing Liam Appleton to force home a scrambled finish and send United into the break with a commanding three-goal advantage.
Ringmer attempted to respond after the interval, but United remained disciplined and determined to protect their clean sheet while continuing to threaten at the other end.
The fourth arrived in the 82nd minute when Kamil was brought down inside the penalty area following another dangerous run. Kingston stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot kick, completing his brace and wrapping up a comprehensive 4–0 victory.
It was an excellent all-round performance from the Mavericks — four goals, a clean sheet and safe passage into the next round of the FA Vase.
Ahmed Kamil was deservedly named Man of the Match after playing a major role in three of United’s four goals and terrorising the Ringmer defence throughout.
