Three Bridges suffered a setback in their quest to finish in the Isthmian South East Division play-off places for the second season running.

Jamie Crellin’s side have enjoyed a superb run of form since returning to Jubilee Field and are on the edge of the race for the top seven.

But they found themselves a goal behind after just two minutes on Saturday afternoon, Jack Paxman with a superb 25 yard effort that whizzed past Will Tillman in the Bridges net.

The bobbly surface certainly didn’t help the visitors to play their usual passing game and chances after the opening goal were at a premium for both sides, Adam Malloy tipping a Bridges effort over the bar the best of them.

The home side extended their lead three minutes before the interval as Tom Chapman fired home after some pinball inside the penalty area.

Chapman then added his second on 47 minutes as Tillman struggled with a wayward back pass leaving the midfielder to slot into an empty net and seal a comfortable three points for the home side, the rest of the half played out with the visitors thwarted at every opportunity going forward.

Despite the loss Bridges are still in contention as the season enters it’s final month and head to Erith Town on Tuesday evening before hosting Ashford Utd on Saturday.
