Haywards Heath Town have appointed Kevin Green as their new manager, days after parting company with Naim Rouane.

Green led Steyning Town to the Southern Combination Premier Division title last season and Step 4 football for the first time in their history but left the clubs days after.

Rouane had won plaudits for his side’s brand of football and the club are locked in a title race with Hassocks having only conceded six goals in 17 league games so far this season.

Heath announced after Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Wick a parting of the ways with the popular Rouane, a surprised reaction across social media channels given the club’s high league standing.

Green has announced a strong backroom team with trusted assistant Dan Viggers, coaches Alex Gathern and Mike Baker and scout George Staples complimented by existing goalkeeping coach Simon Lehkyj and physio Toby Hunter completing the line up.

Their first game in charge this weekend is at the Withdean Complex as they head to mid-table AFC Varndeanians, ko 3pm.
