Lancing moved further clear of the Isthmian South East Division relegation zone with a second win in three league games.
With only three games surviving in the league and four overall in Sussex the Lancers took full advantage to head seven points away from the bottom four.
Despite the low temperatures overnight, the morning and early afternoon gave way to bright sunshine although the electronic scoreboard showed just under 3 degrees by the final whistle.
The best of the opening chances went to the home side and going with the run of play they opened the scoring on 11 minutes, Harry Heath playing a nice ball inside to George Taggart and the midfielder’s effort found the top corner via a deflection.
Josh Bexon was certainly the busier of the two keepers, despite the Bay’s efforts to play their way through the Lancers backline and seven minutes before half time the visitors thought they had the equaliser only to be ruled out for offside.
Lancing doubled their lead right on half time, Bexon dropping a cross at the feet of Heath who chipped the ball back over his head and into the net, the opportunist time to score.
The second half was fairly comfortable for the home side with chances for both teams in fairly short supply, Bay not quite penetrating enough and the home side able to defend their lead and sending the majority of the 353 in attendance home with three more precious points.
