Hassocks picked up another three points on Bank Holiday afternoon in their Sussex derby against Eastbourne Town at The Beacon Hotel Ground.
After a penalty shoot out win in the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday, the Robins followed it up with a second league win of the season to leave Town with a solitary point so far.
On a blazing hot summer afternoon, both sides struggled to gain the early momentum 48 hours after their previous games and it was Town who took the lead on 27 minutes.
The goal came from some confusion in the box where it looked liked a foul was about to be awarded, composure was kept and Sonny Walsh rolled past James Shaw to put Eastbourne in front.
The lead was gone before the half time whistle. A quick free kick set Jack Troak away and his cross was met by the head of Jamie Wilkes to level things up going into the interval.
With the pendulum swinging back towards the home side who had grown into the game they took the lead just after the hour mark. A free kick into the box found the head of Matt Gunn and his header from 12 yards out looped over visiting keeper Chris Winterton.
Town did have a late chance to grab a point but a fine save from Shaw saw the Robins put three more league points on the board.
