Leaders Hassocks strengthened their grip at the top of the Southern Combination Premier Division with victory in Tuesday’s quick re-arranged fixture.
After two games without a win against fellow top five contenders the Robins returned to winning ways at Crabtree Park to hold an eleven point lead over Roffey.
The opening exchanges were fairly even, but not for long as the visitors clipped the bar through Alex Fair just six minutes in. The same player found a net a minute later to give Hassocks the lead, converting a left wing cross.
The Robins continued to create chances across the first half and did eventually finish another effort on 42 minutes, top scorer Ruari Farrell heading home and the visitors in control at the break.
They remained on top as the second half began, Fair forcing a great save from Dragons keeper Keelan Belcher. The points were wrapped up on 74 minutes with the goal of the game, Dan Turner weaving his way past three defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Belcher from all of 25 yards. Wick did grab themselves a consolation goal with seven minutes remaining as James Thurgar fired home from 20 yards, but the Robins saw out the remainder of the match in front of a small crowd of 69.
