Loxwood celebrated a first win since January on Tuesday evening to make it an unbeaten start to their Southern Combination Premier Division campaign.

On a glorious summer’s evening amidst some hot conditions the Magpies added to their point at the weekend to head into Saturday’s FA Cup against British Airways full of confidence.

The visitors had almost all the early moments but some resolute defending kept the scoreline level and brought the home side into the game.

The opening goal arrived on 20 minutes, the dangerous Tevon Webster finding his way into the box and his pull back was steered in the net by Dan Webster.

The flying winger almost made another mark on the game dancing past defenders but his strikers unable to hit the target and double the lead, the home side a goal to the good at half time.

Whilst Loxwood created the early second half chances, Shoreham were giving it a good go to get back into the match but all too often attacks broke down on the edge of the Magpies penalty area.

The second goal took a while to come, Alfie Jones setting Charlie Martin away after 77 minutes and the striker no made mistake to put the home side in control.

However, with stoppage time in play Shoreham snatched a goal back, Harvey Damario catching Tiwa Fujamade off his line and the ball landing in the back of the net to reduce the deficit.

Given the late goals at the weekend, nerves were jangling the opposite way but no panic was needed in late stoppage time as Shoreham piled forward in search of the equaliser the gaps left at the back opened up, 17-year-old Wez Brown left with a tap in on his debut and the points remained at the Nest.
